What Echosaw checks in an image

Echosaw is multimodal AI image moderation software: Echosaw image moderation checks each picture you upload for nudity, sexual content, suggestive content, violence, and disturbing imagery. Echosaw is one engine: it ingests the media, analyzes it, scores it against the harm policy, and summarizes what it found.

What you upload

Images in PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, or HEIC format, up to 5 GB each, uploaded in the web app or sent through the REST API.

See It In Action

Real meeting. Real analysis. Real insights.

Explore a full Echosaw analysis of a recorded meeting: timestamped transcript, key moments, AI insights, generated outputs, and a chat grounded in the video.

  1. 1. Upload video, audio, images, or documents
  2. 2. Analyze transcripts, timelines, and key moments
  3. 3. Ask questions and get cited answers

What comes back

A report with moderation labels and confidence scores, an object and scene analysis, text visible in the image in the Screen Text tab, and an Ask Emma tab for questions about the image. Flagged media cannot be made public. Results are available in the web app and through the REST API and MCP server, so you can push findings into your CRM, ticketing, or VMS.

How Echosaw fits your workflow

Echosaw flags each image, attaches the moderation labels and confidence scores as evidence, and gates publishing so a flagged image cannot be made public. Your team decides what happens to it, in the web app or in your own systems through the API. Echosaw analyzes media as it arrives — record in the browser, upload, or send files through the API — and returns findings as close to real time as recorded analysis gets. How AI image moderation works

Every image goes through the same engine as video: Echosaw ingests it, analyzes it, scores it against the fixed harm policy, and summarizes the result in a report. The image moderation check returns labels for any harmful category it finds, each with a confidence score, alongside the regular image analysis.

Video frames are images too. When you upload a video, the same visual categories are checked across its frames, and each flag carries the time range where it occurs — see AI video moderation.

Photo moderation and picture moderation for teams

Photo moderation usually happens in bulk: product photos, user submissions, event pictures. Upload the images to Echosaw, read the moderation labels in each report, and keep flagged ones out of anything public. Picture moderation results stay attached to the image in your library, so the reason an image was flagged is still there when someone asks later.

Image moderation API

The image moderation API is the standard Echosaw analysis API with mediaType set to image. Authenticate with an X-Api-Key header, submit the image, poll for status, and read the results. See the API reference.

Image moderation software vs. an image moderation service

An image moderation service may include people who look at the pictures for you. Image moderation software like Echosaw scores the pictures automatically and shows your team why each one was flagged. Echosaw does image content moderation on the images you give it, through the web app, the REST API, or the MCP server; for broader tools across video, audio, and documents, see content moderation tools.

Image moderation FAQ

What is image moderation?
Image moderation is checking a picture for harmful content — nudity, sexual content, violence, or disturbing imagery — before it is shown to others. Echosaw does AI image moderation on every image you upload and returns moderation labels with confidence scores.
Is there an image moderation API?
Yes. Send the image to POST /v1/analyze with mediaType image, poll GET /v1/analysis/status/{mediaId}, and read the results from GET /v1/analysis/results/{mediaId}. The Echosaw MCP server exposes the same analysis to AI agents.
Which image formats does the image moderation service accept?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and HEIC, up to 5 GB per file.
Does photo moderation read text in the image?
Echosaw also detects text visible in the image and shows it in the Screen Text tab, so a caption or sign in a photo can be read alongside the moderation result.
How much does picture moderation cost?
Each plan includes free image analyses every month: 125 on Starter ($9), 250 on Growth ($19), 500 on Pro ($29), and 2,000 on Agency ($49). Your first three uploads are free with no subscription. Example: on Agency, 2,000 images a month are covered by the $49 monthly plan; video you moderate alongside images is billed per minute, so a 10-minute clip adds 10 × $0.43 = $4.30 in usage.
