Study as a class, not alone
A class is an organization in Echosaw. One person analyzes the source media, and the named study packet — the flashcard deck — built from it is shared with everyone in the class, while each student keeps their own private FSRS schedule and progress. Analyzing a source once for a class is cheaper per student than everyone analyzing their own copy.

Studying and teaching are paid features. Without a subscription you get a one-time try of 25 persona actions, student or teacher, then studying or teaching needs a subscription.
Your class, your media, your policy
Create a class as an organization, invite or import your roster, and build named study packets from your own lectures, slides, and readings — a single packet can span several of those sources so one assignment covers a whole unit. A study packet is frozen when you create it — what your students see is what you approved, and any correction you make to an item is recorded as an auditable edit.
Quiz and test configuration
Per packet: turn Test mode on, choose open or closed book, pick multiple-choice, typed (free-response, graded by AI against your answer and overridable by you), or self grading, set quiz and test attempt limits, an optional server-enforced time box, question shuffling, an optional pass threshold, and an optional readiness gate that asks students to review before they can test. A typed answer waiting on you shows the student a 'pending teacher review' state — never a zero — until you grade it, and a retake is offered only while attempts remain.
Closed-book attempts
While a closed-book attempt is open, packet answers are withheld from everything the student can see — including the study-context assistant.
See who's due and who's struggling
The roster mastery view shows live per-student, per-concept mastery across the whole class: who is overdue, which concepts the class as a whole is weak on, how many concepts each student has started, and the score on each recorded attempt. Concepts link back to the source media they came from, so re-teaching starts at the right moment in the lecture.
When you need the scores elsewhere, export your own class's Test attempts — the score of record — as CSV or JSON and move them into your own gradebook. Export is scoped to your class; it never reaches another organization's data.

How classes work
- Your subscription grants the number of classes entitled each calendar month — Starter 1, Growth 2, Pro 4, Agency 6. There is no separate education SKU for teacher or student.
- Your subscription pays for the study or teaching tools you choose — student or teacher.
- You choose who the class pays for: sponsor specific members and their analysis bills to the class; leave a member unsponsored and they use their own subscription for the class.
- Keep spend in check: optionally cap how many analysis minutes each member can charge to the class per month, and choose whether going over warns or blocks.
Academic integrity, honestly stated
Echosaw is not a proctor, and we don't claim to be — there is no webcam and no browser lockdown. What we ship is friction and evidence: closed-book mode withholds answers for the duration of an attempt, attempt limits and optional time boxes bound how many tries a test allows, and every attempt is recorded with its score. Educators set the policy per packet.
Each attempt also carries integrity signals for the educator to review — things like the tab losing focus, a paste into an answer, or a submit after the deadline. They are review signals, not surveillance: no webcam, no lockdown, and they never contain answer content. The educator decides what, if anything, they mean.
Our position: AI belongs in study the way a tutor does — grounded in the assigned source, with a timestamp so you can check it yourself. Study items come from the media an educator or student actually submits, not from an open-ended guess.

Echosaw is for users 18 and over. Study records (card state, review logs, and test attempts), uploaded media, and generated outputs are covered by our education data notice, alongside our Privacy Policy and Data Retention & Deletion Policy.
