Echosaw for Academics: Study Packets, Classes, and Roster Mastery

Echosaw's education vertical is live: turn your own lectures, board photos, and links into study packets with FSRS spaced review — and run them as a class with configurable tests and per-concept roster mastery.

Echosaw now has an education vertical. Students can turn the media a course actually runs on — a recorded lecture, a photo of the whiteboard, a linked reading — into study material. Educators can run that same material as a class: named study packets, assigned to a roster, with quizzes and tests they configure and per-concept mastery they can see.

The wedge: your own media, not just public links

Most AI study tools start from a public link or a PDF. Coursework doesn't. It's the lecture you recorded on your phone, the slide you photographed because the professor moved on, the reading your instructor posted. Echosaw ingests all of it: your own audio and video files up to 5GB, with per-tier length limits, images with on-screen and handwritten text read via OCR, and links.

Every study item generated from that media is grounded in the source, with a timestamp you can click to verify the answer against the moment it came from.

For students: study packets and spaced review

Analyze a source, and Echosaw generates study items — prompts and answers — as a named, frozen study packet. Grade yourself on a concept and it enters an FSRS spaced-repetition schedule, so what you're weakest on comes back first and what you know stops eating your time.

A class in Echosaw is an organization. One person analyzes the source, and the packet built from it is shared with everyone in the class, while each student keeps their own private review schedule and progress. Analyzing a source once for a class costs less per student than everyone analyzing their own copy.

For educators: packets, policy, and roster mastery

Create a class, invite your roster, and build packets from your own lectures and slides. A packet is frozen when you create it — students see what you approved — and any correction you make to an item is recorded as an auditable edit.

Per packet, you configure the assessment policy: turn Test mode on, choose open or closed book, pick multiple-choice, typed, or self grading, set quiz and test attempt limits, an optional time box, question shuffling, and whether answers show after submit. While a closed-book attempt is open, packet answers are withheld from the student's surfaces — including the study-context assistant.

The roster mastery view then shows live per-student, per-concept mastery across the class: who is overdue, which concepts the class as a whole is weak on, and the score on each recorded attempt. Concepts link back to the source media, so re-teaching starts at the right moment in the lecture.

Pricing: studying comes with the plan you already have

There is no education plan to buy. Your plan sets how many classes you can fund yourself in a month — Starter 1, Growth 2, Pro 4, Agency 6 — where studying on your own counts as one, and each class you join and pay for yourself counts as one more.

Creating a class takes any paid plan, and teaching it doesn't use up your own monthly classes. You can cover specific students so they study your class at no cost to them. Students you don't cover use their own plan for that class. With no plan and nobody covering you, your first 25 study actions are free — one-time, not monthly — after which studying needs a plan or a teacher covering you. A free trial doesn't unlock studying; a paid subscription does. The only usage cost is analysis: turning a recording, photo, or link into study material bills at the standard rates on your plan.

Scope and integrity

Echosaw's education features are for college and adult learners — users 18 and over. We are not a proctoring product and don't claim to be: what we ship is friction and evidence — closed-book attempts, attempt limits, optional time boxes, and a recorded score for every attempt. Educators set the policy.
